Denis Du Bois, Editor, Welcomes You to Energy Priorities

Denis Du Bois, Editor and founder of Energy Priorities magazine.

Welcome to Energy Priorities. I started this magazine in 2004 as a resource for businesses. I encountered executives who were -- like you, like myself -- increasingly conscious of our energy use and its impact on the environment, society, and our competitiveness.

EDITOR
Denis Du Bois

Denis Du Bois is a rational evangelist for sustainable business. He founded Energy Priorities magazine in 2004, and serves as its Editor.

Denis also writes the Energy Blog at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and hosts the popular Energy Minute podcast series. He started writing professionally in 1984, and later served as Managing Editor of a monthly technical journal.

He is active in the energy technology community. He has organized events on renewable energy, the smart grid, biofuels and green buildings, for audiences of 150 to 400 executives. He serves on the board of the MIT Enterprise Forum Northwest and is a long-standing member of WSA, a prominent industry alliance in Washington. In 1994 he founded an online community based on the environmentalist concept of green bonding.

Denis holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University, and a Certificate of International Management also from ASU. He studied French at the University of Paris, and his continuing education includes advanced programs on energy, marketing, management and technology.

Denis lives in the Seattle area. He and his wife enjoy active weekends at their off-grid solar getaway in the Cascade Range.

Separating energy fact from science fiction was challenging for non-technical people. They wanted objective information, but it was scarce. At that time there were few online resources related to commercial power use, and no energy blogs at all. Mainstream magazines, such as Fortune and BusinessWeek, rarely touched the subject.

Energy Priorities filled that gap. I launched the first energy blog, then expanded that into an online magazine. Today we publish exclusive articles, case studies and interviews for a business audience. We differentiate available products from future technologies, and focus as much on the financial justification as on the soft benefits.

Today there is an explosion of energy information on the Web, as well as in print. My blog entries point you to interesting articles, many of which I summarize, and I often correlate other information to further enrich your understanding of the impact of current developments and energy policy on your business.

You can add to the learning experience for your fellow readers and listeners. Comment on any article, whether to share a related piece of information, or an opposing viewpoint. Call to add your voice to our podcasts. Join the discussion.

Above all, share Energy Priorities with your friends and colleagues. Send a link to an interesting article, or forward your copy of our latest e-mail notification. More readers means more awareness. And with awareness comes change.

Sincerely,
Denis Du Bois
