New Online Resource Launched for Business-Related News on Renewables, Efficiency, Reliability
Welcome to Energy Priorities. We have officially launched the first hybrid publication on energy!
April 22, 2004

Energy Priorities launched today as an online magazine for businesses who want to be more informed and responsible energy users. Our focus is on demand-side technologies and practices. Our primary audiences are business owners, property managers, energy technology entrepreneurs, and energy sector investors.
Energy Priorities is also a weblog, with references to other publications of interest, both online and in print. Readers may comment on any article or blog entry.
This combination of original articles with web journal references and commentary has become very popular in other industries, with some long-running online magazines converting to hybrid formats. Energy Priorities is the first hybrid publication on the subject of electric power.
Online magazine about sustainable business
Businesses need more ways to learn about energy-related concepts and technologies. Those who want to be more informed and responsible energy users are faced with myriad choices and a sea of information. Energy Priorities will help them find out which technologies and practices are realistic and economically viable.Case studies, news articles and down-to-earth ideas for businesses are divided into departments for "Renewable Energy," "Clean Energy," and "Smart Energy."
The "Energy Business" department is dedicated to entrepreneurs and investors in the energy sector. Company profiles and news of research breakthroughs are provided to supplement the industry media.
The "Energy Policy" department will provide updates on major changes in national energy-related legislation and incentives. Policy changes affect vendors and customers alike, and we help them stay informed.
One thing you're not likely to see is a print version of Energy Priorities. The amount of energy that goes into printing and recycling a monthly magazine is surprisingly high, not to mention the raw resources used and the toxicity of waste products. We are an energy-related publication that writes about technologies, and we intend to remain an online magazine. By avoiding the overhead and expense, we can truly separate advertising from editorial; we offer an affordable information resource without being beholden to advertisers.
Weblog about energy for business
While the majority of our content is original articles, we include references to other publications where we feel it will be of interest to our readers. Blog entries will be combined with our articles in each department.Blogging gives our readers an opportunity to find valuable information in publications to which they don't subscribe. It also creates a platform for discussion, through online comments, about energy-related news and events.
Since the blackouts of 2003, and with the sudden popularity of blogging, we are surprised not to have seen at least a dozen energy-related blogs spring up on the web. There are a handful of passionate environmentalists who blog on ethanol, solar panels or hydrogen fuel cells. Nothing else like the Energy Priorities blog exists today.
We hope that changes. The exciting thing about the blogging phenomenon is that there is greater value in having many, many blogs than there is in having a few dominant ones. If you're not familiar with weblogs and RSS news feeds, we created a page to explain them and point you to the right resources.
