Modern Grid Initiative Expands Online Resources

The Modern Grid Initiative has launched an expanded and redesigned Web site to disseminate information and promote collaboration about grid R&D.

The Modern Grid Initiative has updated their Web site, at themoderngrid.org. MGI has expanded the resources and information available to the public, and added opportunities for collaboration and interaction among users.

MGI is a DOE-funded project coordinated by the National Energy Technology Laboratory to establish a consensus vision for the future grid. Organizers hope that an open process for coordination, collaboration and sharing will lead to large-scale demonstrations of key advanced technologies.

The Web site's new Modern Grid Initiative Blog is designed to provide a focal point for updates on the Initiative, facts and figures about efforts to modernize the grid, and requests for input. An ongoing outreach of MGI is the Smart Grid Newsletter.

MGI this year hosted regional summits for grid insiders who want to know more about the initiative or to get involved. The presentations from all of the summits are available on the site in the Resources area.

The goal of the Modern Grid Initiative is to unite and coordinate other efforts, such as GridWise and Intelligrid. Funded primarily by the Department of Energy and managed by the National Energy Technology Laboratory, MGI does not duplicate or replace existing grid research, development and deployment.
