Affordable Solar: High-Performance Housing + Smart Investing (Home Power)

Home builder Peter Erickson used some innovative business ideas to allow homeowners to share in the incentives and financial benefits of harnessing solar energy.

This magazine is about business. When I write about energy innovations for residential applications, it's because I want those ideas to reach builders. Talk about reach! I'm pleased to have an 8-page article in the October issue of Home Power magazine. The issue will be distributed at the upcoming Solar Power 2007 in Long Beach CA.

"Affordable Solar: High-Performance Housing + Smart Investing" describes how a home builder used some innovative business ideas to allow homeowners to share in the incentives and financial benefits of harnessing solar energy.

"Affordable Solar: High-Performance Housing + Smart Investing" is based on a story I wrote a year ago, when Peter Erickson's Mosier Creek Townhomes were still under construction.

The Home Power article is updated and expanded. It includes many beautiful photos of the finished townhome development. It also has a wealth of technical information -- PV schematics, specs and hardware photos -- for those who are, like me, more than a little bit into solar.
