Dow Jones Environmental Ventures 2008

Dow Jones dives into green tech -- will the sector ever be the same? Whether you think the Dow Jones imprimatur on environmentalism is the beginning of the Big Time, or the end of the fun, the Dow Jones Environmental Ventures conference in May 2008 will be a new venue to rub elbows with leading investors and entrepreneurs building start-ups in this sector.

Dow Jones promises that their two-day conference will shed light on the issues facing green-tech businesses. They have also culled their VentureSource investment database and enlisted the domain expertise of their newsletter editors and reporters to identify start-ups with the best prospects to take the lead.

At the conference debut in San Mateo, California, investors will see business plan presentations delivered by the CEOs of 45 green-tech startups selected by the editors of VentureWire. Dow Jones says they rated several hundred startups on a host of internal criteria before inviting those they believe "demonstrate true business momentum."

To set the context for these presentations, Dow Jones has invited keynote speakers from Unilever, Dow Chemical and Seventh Generation. In addition, executives, investors and analysts will impart their wisdom in sessions entitled "Making Green" (raising money), "Green Tech" (hot technologies), and "Green Biz" (green marketing). Panelists include representatives of GE Financial Services, Environmental Defense Fund, The Clorox Company, Element Partners and UC Berkeley.

"Making Green" will be about the challenges startups might face as larger companies join the market. Panelists in the "Green Tech" session will explain which technologies they see leading the consumer green makeover in the coming years. In the "Green Biz" session, panelists will discuss the efforts of corporations to improve their green image.

Dow Jones Environmental Ventures 2008 is scheduled for May 20-21, 2008, at the Marriott in San Mateo, California. Early registration ends today.

Very interesting.

If the economics don't work, recycling and sustainable efforts won't either.
Check http://LivePaths.com a blog about innovative entrepreneurs that make money selling recycled items, provide green services or help us reduce our dependency on non renewable resources. These include some very cool Green online ventures, great new technologies, startups and investments opportunities.
