Book Review: Emerald Architecture

Emerald Architecture is a beautifully produced compilation of the green building case studies issued in GreenSource Magazine through the end of 2007.

Every issue of GreenSource magazine provides in-depth case studies of sustainable buildings. Emerald Architecture is a compilation of those studies, from the first, through the end of 2007, with photographs.

GreenSource researches their case studies 18 months after the building's completion. They review project design, but they also address operations, benefits and calculate carbon footprint of the buildings.

This is especially important because as the industry learns more about the highest-performing buildings, they'll be able to compare by region, building size, and so on. There currently is no benchmark for the carbon footprint of a building; GreenSource is compiling its database of them.
