Smart Buildings: Interview with Jim Sinopoli - Building Priorities Briefing

The technologies that make a building "smart" come at a cost, and as much as we hear about saving energy to save the planet, building owners still manage by financial metrics. Jim Sinopoli led the Smart Buildings track at ConnectivityWeek 2008, including a session on the ROI of enterprise energy management. This interview between Denis Du Bois and Jim Sinopoli is the second in a series of podcasts from the ConnectivityWeek 2008 conference. (podcast)

Program notes

At ConnectivityWeek I had great conversations, including some time with Jim Sinopoli, principal of Smart Buildings, an engineering firm in the Austin Texas area. He literally wrote the book on smart buildings, it's titled Smart Buildings, of all things!

How do smart building technologies influence the financial metrics that building owners really care about? What are some of the areas of real value in deploying the advanced smart-building approach known as enterprise energy management, and where are the best places to start? These are a few of the questions Sinopoli answers in this interview, recorded at ConnectivityWeek in May, 2008.
