USGBC Leadership Award Recipients Named at Greenbuild 2008
GREENBUILD 2008 -- The USGBC has named the recipients of its 2008 Leadership Awards to recognize companies and individuals who signify vision, leadership and commitment to the evolution of green building design and construction.

During a Leadership Awards luncheon today at the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in Boston, the USGBC named the recipients for 2008.
Index to Greenbuild 2008 Day-by-Day at Energy Priorities
"The organizations and individuals receiving this year's awards are among the most influential green building leaders in the country," said Rick Fedrizzi, USGBC President and CEO.
The 2008 Leadership Awards recognize achievements in six categories, plus a special President’s award given to Andy Karsner, Assistant Secretary to the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) at the DOE.
Community category -- San Diego Gas & Electric’s Sustainable Communities Program, which works with developers, designers, municipalities and school districts to encourage green building practices and to incorporate clean on-site energy generation.
Education category -- Alex Wilson, Executive Editor of Environmental Building News, author of numerous books and textbooks on sustainable building. He has written hundreds of articles for publications outside of EBN, including Popular Science and Architectural Record. He also served on the board of directors for the USGBC.
Research category -- The cost consulting firm Davis Langdon for its ongoing contributions to the market’s understanding of the cost implications of LEED.
LEED category -- Scot Horst for his leadership as the current chairman of the LEED Steering Committee. Scot does extensive work with the Climate Trust in Oregon.
Organizational Excellence category -- (1) The founding members of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) National Committee on the Environment and (2) CB Richard Ellis. The early members of the AIA COTE planted the seeds for the founding of the USGBC. CB Richard Ellis received the award for its leadership in corporate responsibility as the first major real estate services firm to announce its pledge to become carbon neutral by 2010.
Advocacy category -- Ohio Governor Ted Strickland in recognition of the strong example of sustainability he has set forth for schools across the nation.
